There were plenty of Life Crystals, unlike last time, and I even found some right next to each other.Ī slime rain came, and I summoned King Slime. I explored the entire world and found that making the switch was a very good choice, as the world gen was much more kind. Because I already had basically everything, I got back on track in a short amount of time. I built a new and improved base, and transferred all my valuables. I decided to make the switch, and a large world. Fortunately, characters and worlds are different, as characters save their inventory in each different world.
But, making it bigger required creating an entire new large world. After exploring the rest of the world, I found that my small world was just too small. This basically meant I could go through the rest of early-early game with impunity, 1-2 shotting most monsters I encountered. At this point, I had really big mobility from the fishing items, a powerful sword, a powerful ranged weapon from destroying a shadow orb, and a defense that was triple that of before. Multiple mining and caving sessions allowed me to get silver armor. After a fishing session where the only thing I got were duplicate items, I realized that it might be more productive if I actually played the game. The stockpile of fish and excess treasure allowed me to earn quite a lot of money I got my first platinum during this time.Īmong other fancy things, I got Sailfish Boots, which basically doubles my running speed Tsunami in a bottle, which allows a double jump Frog's Leg, which increases my jump height and most importantly, the Falcon Blade, one of the best pre-hardmode swords in the game (which is ridiculous, considering how early it is in the game and how easy it is to get). I found that I can easily fish while watching Youtube, so that greatly helped. This, along with mining, is basically what I did for the next 2 weeks. So, I find the nearest pond, an oasis right next to my house, gathered a stockpile of bait, and fished. In addition, fishing itself can give these items, and fish caught can be used to make food, buffing stats, and can also sell for quite a bit. And a crate can give you ore, more fishing bait, and most importantly, a ton of items that can make your life easier and sometimes skip game progression. You see, when you fish, you have a 1/10 chance to fish up a crate. Another visit to the wiki tells me that fishing is pretty overpowered. Now this is good, because critters sell for a lot, AND some can also be used as fishing bait. So, I expand my dirt hut, and The Merchant comes in, allowing me to access the Bug Net, which I can use on random animals. So, I spend about 2 hours reading at the wiki, and learned a bunch of things about the game's mechanics and what should I do next. I play for about an hour more, mining and just exploring in general, and by that point, I kind of realized Terraria is not a game you play blind. By then it's night time, and The Guide does his thing: opening the door so zombies can come in and smoosh my undergeared ass. After cycling through his dialogue, I chop trees, and build a dirt house. Upon world creation, I am greeted by Kyle. Anyway, I create a small world, because the game suggested it's good for a first playthrough.
Hopefully that won't come back to haunt me if I decide to play multiplayer. I've never been good at creating characters, so I just gave him default clothes and the most generic name I could think of, which was "Joe". I decided to jump in the game completely blind.
